Plutonium Gate to Hell

Ancient Roman 'Gateway to the Underworld' at Hierapolis — 1 km from the hotel. Historical curiosity.

Plutonium — The Gate to Hell

The Plutonium of Hierapolis was an ancient religious site where the Romans believed the god Pluto ruled the underworld. A small cave emitted naturally lethal CO₂, killing animals that entered — interpreted as divine power. Modern archaeology confirmed the gas is real volcanic vent emissions.

How to get there: Inside Hierapolis, next to the Temple of Apollo, about 1 km from Sinter Terasse Hotel. Visit is safe (protected viewing platform).

Tip: Fascinating for history and mystery lovers — pair with the Roman Theatre next door.
