Akhan Caravanserai

Akhan Caravanserai is a 13th-century Seljuk stone caravanserai built in 1253 on the ancient Silk Road trade route. These caravanserais served merchants and pilgrims free of charge for 3 days, providing shelter, food and stables. Akhan is one of the best-preserved examples in southwestern Turkey.

How to get there: About 8 km from Sinter Terasse Hotel, on the old Denizli–Afyon road. A 15-minute drive; can be combined with a Laodicea visit.

Practical tips: The monumental gate and central courtyard are the highlights. Entry is usually free; the visit takes 30–45 minutes.
